Jake Bauers was named the first baseman on the Midwest League post-season All-Star team announced Monday.

The 18-year-old Bauers is the youngest position player in the Single-A league.

He is hitting .289 with eight homers and 60 RBIs in 105 games for the TinCaps with a .364 on-base percentage (44 walks against 76 strikeouts) and a .406 slugging percentage (he also has 15 doubles and three triples in 384 at-bats).

Bauers, the Padres seventh-round pick in the 2013 draft out of Marina High in Huntington Beach, is 3 ½ years under the average age for a Midwest League player. Bauers made his Fort Wayne debut on April 26 after spending the first three weeks of the season in extended spring training.

He led the Midwest League in hitting for most of June and July and still has the ninth-highest average in the league. The left-handed Bauers has also become one of the league’s top defensive players.
